POSITION SUMMARY

Foster a safe and engaging discipleship-oriented environment where families and children can build community and learn the simple truths of God’s love through consistent leadership and coordination of the First Free Kids staff and volunteer team.

Interpersonal Skills - To be confident and competent in interacting and communicating daily with pastors, staff, volunteers, children and parents.
Experience - Experience in, and basic level understanding of, educational practices and systems, particularly of young children.
Composure - To stay calm, poised, and effective in stressful or difficult situations; adjusting quickly to changing situations.
Creativity - To implement creative, fun, inspirational, instructional discipleship opportunities for children.
Judgment - To discern what is appropriate, practical, and realistic in each situation; to weigh relative merits of competing demands.
Resourcefulness - To formulate creative alternatives or solutions to resolve problems, to show flexibility in response to unanticipated circumstances.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of the weekend Discovery Land curriculum and programming in K-6 th grade, as decided upon by the Children’s Pastor. *Note there is a part-time program assistant to help with physical weekend set- up and tear-down.
  • Responsible for oversight and support of staff and volunteer teams during weekend services and securing a lead in your place when gone.
  • Recruiting, scheduling and communicating with K-6th grade staff and volunteers.
  • Onboarding and training new staff and volunteers, as well as supporting them as they become well-versed in child discipleship curriculum and practices, the Discovery Land program, and safety protocol.
  • Responsible for having adequate staff and volunteers scheduled to ensure optimal child-to-teacher ratios during weekend services, as well as teaching roles secured.
  • Responsible for working with Program Assistant to have materials organized, stocked, and stored properly between uses to ensure a high level of preparedness for all. This includes purchasing needed materials for curriculum use and other needed materials.
  • Maintain guidelines for the use of the K-6th grade areas through communication with other groups who may utilize those rooms outside of weekend services.
